The appearance of this second edition two years after the publication of the first indicates that the book has been well received by the medical profession. This is easily understandable. The authors have taken great care in the preparation of the work to make it readable, to make it interesting to the physician in general practice and to reduce to a minimum the chemical features of the text. In other words, the book has been prepared with the definite intention of making available for the practitioner of medicine an explanation for the various biochemic reactions that occur in health and disease. The results speak for themselves.

It is interesting to note that in this second edition it has been necessary largely to rewrite the section on the endocrine glands, and the section on the vitamins might well have been subjected to extensive revision, an interesting observation on the tremendous strides . . .
