The present review is similar in every respect to that of a year ago¹ and covers the publications which appeared during the last six months of 1935 and the first six months of 1936. The shorter span of time to be covered has made it possible, in a few instances, to be more detailed, but the limitations of space have again made it necessary to exercise a rigid and sometimes rather arbitrary selection of material. In the field of experimental syphilis, only those articles which are of general interest or which have a direct clinical application have been mentioned, and, aside from one contribution of crucial importance, references to the welter of literature on the serology of syphilis have been almost entirely omitted. The preponderance of the American literature reviewed was not planned; it occurred automatically as a reflection of the heightening of interest in syphilis which is taking . . .
