This book represents 261 pages of discussion on the blood pressures of man, including not only the arterial but the capillary and the venous pressure as well. Methods for determinations of the pressure in each class of vessels are described, criticized and evaluated. The physiology of the regulation of blood pressure is detailed. Central, reflex, and hormonal control are given adequate consideration. Normal regulation is followed by pathologic physiology, leading to a consideration of both hypertension and hypotension. Included are such special cases as the Cushing syndrome, diabetes, adrenal tumors, pregnancy, essential and postural hypotension and Addison's disease.

Although the work is highly colored by German thought and ideas, the literature reviewed is world wide, a fact well reflected in the text itself. One will find in it little regarding specific directions for the handling and treatment of the patient. However, it will supply the physician with much recent knowledge . . .
