This volume is the first to be published by the National University of La Plata, in Argentine. The purpose of the publication is to present representative and worthy clinical and experimental investigations of the members of the university faculty.
In this first volume are twenty-nine articles on various subjects, including erysipelas, syphilis, osteomyelitis, amebiasis, peptic ulcer, fracture of the neck of the femur and meningitis. Most of the observations represent clinical and therapeutic investigative phases.
Because of the current discussion on the value of conservative therapy in osteomyelitis, the three articles in this issue are worthy of comment. Rodriguez concludes from his study of 26 cases that the Orr treatment is of greatest value. Professor Valls' comments are rather pessimistic. He agrees with Rodriguez regarding the Orr treatment but would limit its use to the chronic conditions. In one article he states that diaphyseal resection gave poor results, and in
