Dr. Shands's book has now run through several editions and has made its place as a brief and straightforward compendium of orthopedics. Good illustrations, a comprehensive bibliography and an index supplement the text. A book of this sort should be especially useful to general physicians and medical students, and, indeed, the authors state in the preface that such is their purpose. . . .
