This volume is a comprehensive and authoritative source of both contemporary and historical information on the treatment of allergic disturbances. Originally written by the late Warren T. Vaughan in 1939, it has been revised and supplemented in the light of the many important developments that have occurred in the fields of clinical and experimental allergy in the intervening years by Dr. J. Harvey Black, associate editor of the Journal of Allergy and a practicing allergist. The internist as well as the allergist will find this volume understandable. It contains a wealth of material on clinical allergies, diagnostic procedures in cases of allergy and the physiology of allergy. Many chapters are devoted to food, to pollen and other allergens which are inhaled and to allergic reactions in response to drugs, serums, bacteria, fungi and physical changes. There are also chapters on pharmacology, which include the subject of antihistaminics and miscellaneous data
