This small booklet is planned for the general practitioner, and it contains most practical material. Its aim is to give clear, succinct and practical information. "seasoned with sane comment." The commonest heart diseases and disorders are described briefly in the twenty-one chapters, some of them being just mentioned in a few words. New advances of medicine are also included. Electrocardiography has been omitted with purpose, because "a little learning is a dangerous thing."

The author describes, in clear and simple style, the nature of each disorder, its clinical picture and diagnosis, prognosis and treatment. General treatment is condensed in a special chapter. There are several drawings, illustrating different shapes of the heart, etc.
