This is a second edition of a book published originally in 1945. As the title implies, the subject is "office gynecology." The book is intended to be used by the general practitioner. There are numerous illustrations, most of which are of good quality.

The first section is concerned with obtaining the history and the technic of examination. Approximately one half of the book "takes up the common symptoms of gynecology and describes the factors concerned in their production. The mechanism of symptoms is stressed as being extremely important not only as an aid in correct diagnosis but also in the formulation of a treatment..."

The remaining sections have to do with special observations, various tests and types of treatment, and there is a final section on special topics. These deal with the premarital examination, birth control, sterilization and marital maladjustments. They are written of in an outspoken and refreshingly honest . . .
