This neat little volume is a reprint of the Beaumont Lecture of the Wayne County (Michigan) Medical Society originally given in 1946; however, the present printing is dated 1950. Dr. Gross is well known as a pioneer in cardiovascular surgery, and the subject is thoroughly covered in this monograph, much of which describes original work.
