The seventh edition of "Recent Advances in Physiology" is worthy of study by those interested in various fields of medicine and physiology. The text presents, to a great extent, the British point of view. The material is written in the usual fashion of review articles, but, because of less documentation, it is easier to read. The subjects discussed, however, are sufficiently supported by a bibliography.

The material is lucidly presented in essentially lecture style. The compendium includes the following subjects: "The Physical Basis of Temperature Regulations," "Water Diuresis," "Digestion," "Some Aspects of the Physiology of Pregnancy," "Blood Pressure and the Kidneys," "Catheterisation of the Heart," "The Electrical Excitation of Nerve," "Cutaneous Sensation," "Auditory Impulses" and "Colour Vision."
