As the author states in his preface, the background of this account is wholly military, although there will obviously be many applications in civilian life. Various sections deal with the mental and physical state of the wounded man, physical derangements in the wounded found on admission to forward hospitals, treatment of the wounded and anesthetization for the wounded. The book is handsomely printed and beautifully illustrated with photographs taken in the field and seems to the reviewer to represent an up-to-date discussion of the subject from the surgeon's standpoint. . . .
