GENERAL THERAPY OF SYPHILIS

FROM the maze of articles appearing on the therapy of syphilis, a crystallization of opinion is being evolved. It would take more space than is available or advisable to cover in detail the various techniques of treatment. We will, therefore, merely refer to the interested reader some of the numerous discussions,¹⁸³ and detail the schemes of therapy for syphilis as advised by a representative committee of experts from the United States. Curtis and a country-wide group of syphilologists¹⁸⁴ have attempted to formulate specific treatment schedules which they recommend for the various phases of syphilis. Although no documentation for the recommended systems is appended, this hand-picked group has tried to reflect the consensus of the literature along with their personal viewpoints.
