As indicated by the title and emphasized in the preface, this collection of chapters by more than 20 contributors is primarily for the medical student and clinician in fields other than physical medicine. The first two sections of the book present adequate details to enlighten the reader on the therapeutic and diagnostic applications of physical agents and procedures and to aid the clinician in understanding his responsibilities when enlisting the aid of the physical therapist in the management of his patients. The third section presents the clinical aspects of physical medicine and rehabilitation, particularly concerned with neurologic, musculoskeletal, and thoracic diseases. While the section is broad in scope, covering the social, psychosomatic, and diagnostic aspects of this group of diseases as related to physical medicine, some of the individual chapters are too brief to do more than present the problem and make the reader aware of its existence.
