This book on functional endocrinology is a welcome addition to the small collection of reliable textbooks on endocrinology available to medical students and physicians. It has been written by a team of clinical endocrinologists, some of them comparatively young but nonetheless keen, who have carefully set down their own experiences in a pediatric clinic. A chapter is allotted to each endocrine gland. The subject matter for each is broken down into "Basic Considerations" and "Clinical Considerations." The "basic" section will hardly satisfy the physiologist. The authors have, however, made a commendable attempt to interpret clinical findings in terms of human physiology. The book is abundantly illustrated with pictures, tables, and elaborate diagrams. The lack of an introductory chapter is a serious defect.
