ANNOUNCEMENTS

New Institute of Microbiology.

—The anniversary of the discovery of streptomycin in an obscure and crowded Rutgers University laboratory a little more than 10 years ago will be marked at New Brunswick on June 7 with the dedication of the new $3,500,000 Institute of Microbiology—a building made possible by the life-saving drug and dedicated to research.

The new Institute is a handsome addition to the State University's science campus across the Raritan River.

The formal dedication, on June 7, will be followed by a two-day scientific symposium on June 8 and 9. More than 400 scientists from this country and abroad have been invited to the session, which will have as its theme, "Perspectives and Horizons in Microbiology."

Dedication of the Institute will mark another step in the strengthening and broadening of research in microbiology which was started at Rutgers in 1914, when Dr. Selman A. Waksman, first director . . . [Full Text PDF of this Article]
