This is the second edition of an immensely popular and useful book which has become a necessity for all teachers of internal medicine and a constantly used reference for all internists who are making an honest attempt to keep up with advances in their specialty. Because of the nature of the material presented, it is not surprising that a new edition was required four years after the initial publication.

For those accustomed to traditional textbooks of medicine there will be some difficulty in gaining information on a given point or a given disease quickly. However, having gained familiarity with the emphases and arrangement of the material the reader will find his excursions into the subject matter very rewarding.
