This is an excellent, clear, concise exposition of some of the major topics of bone and joint diseases as viewed from the standpoint of a medical rheumatologist. Many subjects, as pyogenic osteomyelitis, chronic arthritis, Paget's disease, gout, and others, are amply discussed, with special emphasis on pathology and physiology and medical treatment. Surgical treatment is merely suggested. There is, however, a tendency to oversimplify matters. I have especially enjoyed the chapter on gouty arthritis.
