This book has been fashioned in the very best Thieme tradition. The paper is excellent; the illustrations are outstanding. The title does not indicate that the author deals only with those diseases of the heart which demonstrate enlargement of the viscus.

The book is the result of work done by Dr. Rossi at the pediatric clinic of Dr. G. Fanconi, in close cooperation with Dr. M. Grob, chief of the surgical clinic of the University of Zurich.

The best way to review it is to quote to a great extent Dr. Fanconi's introduction to the book. He writes: "Up to 10 years ago the physician had to face the congenital angiocardiopathies helplessly. The best he could do was to prognosticate. This situation underwent a sudden change with the advent of heart surgery.
