This book is well organized and conveniently divided into sections so that one can consult it with ease. Part 1, on general considerations, should be especially valuable to every surgical resident. Chapter 5, The Surgical Resident, could well be used by every hospital with a residency teaching program as a goal for training its residents.

Although the authors admit that the title of the book is not the best, the general context has changed to make it even less appropriate than it was for the earlier editions. Some of the more useful minor surgical procedures have been dropped, and many of the rare clinical entities have been included, which makes the book more nearly like a textbook of general surgery.

The illustrations are well picked and thereby add clarity to the book. It reads very easily and would be an excellent reference book, especially for the surgical intern or first-year . . . [Full Text PDF of this Article]
