Drs. Strauss and Raisz discuss many problems of both acute and chronic renal failure in this monograph. Relatively great emphasis has been placed on the diagnosis and treatment of acute renal failure, while chronic renal failure has been dealt with in more general terms. The nephrotic syndrome is not considered.

The book is written with clarity. Its authors give an excellent summary of their experiences with renal failure and the manner in which they treat this condition. They apparently have had little experience with external dialyzing methods, but despite this (perhaps because), give a very adequate review of methods and critical analysis of published results.

This small volume is recommended as a brief but reasonably complete review of renal failure and its management. It can be used by older physicians as a very pleasant and succinct resume of recent trends in this area and by younger students of medicine as . . . [Full Text PDF of this Article]
