This is the fourth volume in a series designed to review the progress made in medicine during the preceding year. It is literally impossible for us to keep up with everything, and books of this kind are of most value for us to survey what goes on in fields other than our own, or if foreign and out-of-the-way papers are reported. The different chapters in this volume seem to be written without any common pattern. Certainly there is no uniform approach, and they are somewhat uneven. A real contribution of a volume of this kind would be to have entire rather than partial references in which the authors' names and titles as well as the journal, volume, date, and year are indicated. As one reads from page to page in different sections, one is struck with the enormous number of names of drugs, which adds so much to the confusion . . . [Full Text PDF of this Article]
