K. Fr. Bauer, the editor-in-chief of this Volume I, has made a successful attempt to furnish a survey of the results of research in a great variety of specialties during the last five or six years. This book offers an excellent orientation in the state of research in many fields of medicine. It so eliminates the necessity to study the abundance of original papers in spheres foreign to the average reader.
