To an internist it may be a surprise that the section on queries and minor notes in the J. A. M. A. is very popular, and there has been a continuous demand for the publication of an annual volume from which choice morsels in this section are gathered together. The book is full of fascinating tidbits, but they make very poor provender for those who are hungry for systematic facts. I find it very entertaining to read different sections of it and have contributed some notes myself. Its value as a reference book is limited by the lack of an index, even though it is arranged in logical sequence with an ample table of contents. Perhaps it may be best compared with trying to comprehend the whole of medicine by taking one of the middle books out of an encyclopedia, say FAT-FRO.
