This year book continues to be one of the best in this very important series. The fact that it has a personality is a reflection of the skill of its editor, Dr. Wartman, and of the abstractors who have done a splendid job of condensing complex subjects to the state where the average medical reader can understand enough to want to go back to the original article, which after all is the main purpose of such books. Spritely editorial comments are sprinkled throughout. One of them in a single sentence may shift the orientation or clinch the argument. The reproduction of numerous illustrations adds conspicuously to the value of the book, and the use of brief critical or analytical essays, which some of the other year books in this group do not have yet, has added to the quality and style of the work.
